Shared History of the World – Opening

Recap: The Opening of Shared History of the World

On November 16, 2024, the Shared History of the World exhibition opened with an evening filled with creativity, connection, and bold storytelling. Hosted at OBA Amsterdam, the event brought together over 30 artists from around the globe, each presenting unique perspectives on mythology, technology, spirituality, and the future.

One of the highlights of the night was the debut of Melanin Kris’s newest project, TRANGA – Lobi. This multimedia installation, inspired by his journeys to Suriname and Ghana, explores resilience and the enduring power of ancestral narratives. Blending poetry, visuals, and storytelling, TRANGA invites viewers to reflect on identity, history, and speculative futures.

This video captures the energy of that unforgettable evening—a glimpse into the performances, the artwork, and the creative synergy that filled the room. For those who couldn’t make it, or who want to relive the magic, this recap is your chance to experience the opening night.

The exhibition runs until January 14, 2025, with free entry at OBA Oosterdok. Don’t miss your opportunity to discover Melanin Kris’s work alongside other visionary creators. Watch the video and let yourself be inspired by a world where past, present, and future collide.
